Andrew Royal Dugas teaches and performs Argentine tango around the country. He has also been invited to teach his “Yoga for Tango” classes at five of the most prestigious festivals in the United States. His profound knowledge of the human body from his studies of yoga, anatomy and kinesthetics informs his understanding and teaching of tango. Previous to his tango and yoga life, Andrew was a classical musician — playing double bass in some of the country’s best orchestras and festivals. More info on Andrew: royaltango.com

Jason Laughlin director of Tangophilia, has been teaching Argentine tango for more than 12 years, developing his technique and teaching style in his local community of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, and making a mark on tango throughout the south by teaching, performing, and DJing. Jason has also toured nationally with Buenos Aires-based tango musicians, the Eduardo Tami Trio. More info on Jason: www.tangophilia.com

Lung-Kuei Lin started studying tango in 2005 and began DJing in 2007. Gradually, he built a solid reputation as a deejay and now he’s invited to spin tunes at the most popular and best milongas and practicas in town. Tango festivals fly him in to DJ. His choices are not strange: he just plays one good song after another, placed in sequence with sensitivity. Lung-Kuei has zero attitude about what he does well and always keeps a sense of humor about things, while remaining a serious milonguero — 100% dedicated to the craft, the life, and the music of tango. You cantypicallyy find him on Sunday evenings at the Loring Pasta Bar in Minneapolis, where he DJs the breaks for Mandragora Tango band and spins the afterhours music.

Tango Band
Mandrágora Tango
Mandrágora Tango is a vibrant collective of tango musicians based in Minneapolis, dedicated to preserving the nearly-lost musical forms of tango and translating them for today’s listeners and dancers. Tango music defies categorization, living somewhere between classical, jazz, and world beat. Mandrágora dances across those lines and creates a music that is fresh, engaging, danceable and nostalgic. The musicians are Bob Barnes (accordion and bandoneon), Laura Harasa (violin), Scott Mateo Davies (guitar), and Rahn Yanes (bass). You can find more informantion about the band and listen to music samples at www.mandragoratango.com.
